  1. VENUE
    The event will be held at Airport Bowl, Bath Road, Harlington, Middlesex from Saturday 1st June  to Sunday 9th June 2013.
  2. SANCTION
    The general playing rules of the British Tenpin Bowling Association will govern the tournament and it will be sanctioned by the BTBA (Sanction no. 34/0087) and the ETBF.
  3. ELIGIBILITY
    This tournament is open to all members of the BTBA. Non members and those unable to produce a current BTBA card may participate upon payment of a £5.00 fine. Non members will not be eligible for BTBA services.
  4. DEFINITION
    The tournament shall be scratch, except that lady entrants will receive 5 pins per game and all entrants under 18 years of age on 9th June 2013, shall also receive 5 pins per game, and all entrants aged 50+ on 9th June 2013 shall also receive 5 pins per game. The maximum bonus per game will be 5 pins.
  5. QUALIFICATION
    All participants shall bowl 9 games straight through in qualifying, in 3 blocks of 3 games each, changing lanes after each block. There will be either 1 or 2 qualifying squads on each of the qualifying days, please see entry form for actual squad times. The leading 2 bowlers on each day are guaranteed places on Finals Day. Lane dressing will be prior to each qualifying squad. There will be a further opportunity to qualify via a desperado this will be scheduled to start after the final qualifying squad on Saturday 8th June.
  6. RE-ENTRY
    The tournament will be re-entry
  7. WHO QUALIFIES FOR FINALS DAY?
    48 bowlers will qualify in five different ways:

    Group 1 - 16 bowlers with the highest total pinfall over 9 games (including all bonus).

    Group 2 - Up to 16 bowlers with the highest total pinfall over 9 games (including all bonus), but must include andy daily winners/runners up, no already seeded 1-16.

    Group 3 - 6 bowlers with the best 3 game series (including all bonus), not included in Groups 1 and 2.

    Group 4 - 6 bowlers with the best single game (including all bonus), not included in Groups 1, 2 or 3.

    Group 5 - 4 bowlers with the best single game (including all bonus) from the Desperado squad, not included in Groups 1, 2, 3 or 4.

    In the event of a bowler not being on time for a match, the place will be allocated to the highest non-qualifying 9 game total.

  8. QUALIFYING PLAYER NUMBERS

    Group 1 - Player No's: 1-16 will receive a bye for Round One and will be seeded not to play each other in Round Two.

    Group 2 - Player No's: 17-32 will be seeded not to play each other in Round One.

    Group 3/4/5 - Player No's: 33-48 will play against Group Two in Round One, drawn at random at approx 9pm. Saturday 8th June 2013.

    Finalists: It is the responsibility of all qualifiers to check their squad times and Groups 2/3/4/5 must be available for registration at 09.00am and Group 1 available for registration at 10.00am on Sunday 9th June 2013.

  9. FINALS DAY FORMAT

    Round 1 - Groups 2/3/4/5 will play a best of 3 match against each other, allocated by random draw. (see Rule 8).

    Round 2 - All remaining bowlers (Group 1 and winners from Groups 2/3/4/5) will play a 2 game series, head to head knockout, double elimination. Winners progress to the next round. Losers progress to the 1st round of the losers section.

    STEPLADDER FINAL

    Match 1- Two remaining players in the losers section will bowl a 2 game match to decide 4th place.

    Match 2 - Winner of Match 1 will play the loser of the Winners section to decide 3rd place.

    The Final - Winner of Match 2 will play the winner of the Winners section to decide 1st and 2nd place.

    If the winner of the Winners section should lose the final, a second match will be played.

  10. TIED GAMES

    Qualifiers: Ties will be decided by best high game, then if necessary next best etc.

    Finals: 9th/10th frame roll-off. Player on left lane bowls 1st ball.

  11. ENTRY FEE

    First Entry £75, Re-Entry £40. Desperado £10

    1st Entry includes £44.55 prize fund, re-entry £11.55 and desperado £8, which will be returned in full. Each original entry fee includes £1 for the Team England Fund.

  12. ENTRY
    Entries should be made half an hour before the squad bowls, at the latest by 9.45 a.m. on 8th June, and be accompanied by the Entry Fee. Cheques should be made payable to “Airport Bowl”.

    The Tournament Committee reserve the right to accept or reject entries, and its decision on all matters shall be final, subject to appeal by the BTBA.

    Bowler's preferences for squad times and days will be considered where possible, but priority will be given to long distance travellers for the Saturday squads.

    'B' squad on Saturday 8th June is reserved for re-entry only.

  13. REGISTRATION

    All participants MUST register at least 30 minutes before the squad time, and present their BTBA card or National Association card.

  14. SCORING

    Scores will be kept on official scoresheets and must be countersigned by an opponent.

  15. DRESS CODE

    Dress Code will be at the discretion of the Tournament Director and Committee. All bowlers will wear a suitable bowling shirt, preferably with their own name or team name. NO denim, jogging bottoms or shorts are permitted. TAILORED SHORTS WILL BE PERMITTED. Failure to comply may result in disqualification without refund.

  16. PROTESTS

    A provisional ball must be rolled in the case of a dispute. All protests must be made within one hour and confirmed in writing within 72 hours.

    Prizes may be adjusted for increase/decrease in number of entries/re-entries (Figures above assume 300 entries).

  18. PLAYING SPEED

    Bowlers will be expected to bowl as soon as the approaches to his/her immediate right and left are clear. Excessive slow play may result in disqualification after warning.

  19. NOISE AND THE BOWLER

    Entrants should be aware that cheering and applause will be encouraged at all stages of the Tournament. Bowlers must not wait for silence before bowling.

  21. MEDIA
    This event will be recorded for video and photographic presentation, and may form part of a web streamed programme. Each competitor's entry into the event constitutes consent to their inclusion in the recording and to the unrestricted transmission and exploitation of all or any part of the recording in any and all media.

  22. 2014 TOURNAMENT

    All entrants for this year's tournament will have priority for entering the 2014 tournament.
